Freedom on My Mind is Bedford/St. Martin's African American history survey textbook that follows the tradition of Calloway's First Peoples and DuBois and Dumenil's Through Women's Eyes in combining historical narrative and primary sources in one book. Each chapter includes a document project based on a theme or event that challenges students to analyze the sources and consider them within the context of the history they just read. Authored by a team of respected historians and teachers, Freedom on My Mind presents African American history from the early slave trade in Africa through the present day and tells the African American story within the larger context of United States history.

Don't bother The rental product only has chapters 8-15, not the entire book. WHAT A WASTE! Would have been helpful to include that in the description!!!!!!!!!One Star No page numbers and no refund option.CTRL-F is your best friend!! I needed this book for my African American history class at Columbus State. It's good for what it's meant to be, and I actually enjoyed some of the material. But a WARNING for the Kindle version, there are no page numbers. There are "Locations", thousands of them in fact. If you're on page 300 of the real book, you'll be at location #13493 of #18190 in the Kindle Edition. Umm, what?? And if you increase or decrease the font size, the locations decrease and increase along with it, so there isn't even consistency in any of this. So if the professor wants you to go to page 243, good luck. However, the redeeming aspect to this is the CTRL-Find option. So you can follow along with class if you ask for keywords. And it made studying for finals so much easier; changing an otherwise 2-star experience into a solid 4.
