Mistakes specially in Maths I'm surprised. I bought this book because of the excellente reviews...Terrible mistake.I encountered multiple errors in the worked out examples of maths problems. For instance, in Chapter 4, 0062 Question Topic, the problem asks for the dimensions in FEET and in the worked out example the book gives the result in metres. There are errors with the symbols < and >. Sometimes the book treats this as if they were "greater than or equal to" instead of just "greater than".The book does not have page numbers which is annoying especially because it contains an index. Totally useless ig pages are not numbered...Still, the book teaches good strategies which are all exemplified when presented to the reader.Personally as a high school student i felt like it helped me have a better understanding of the ... It comes with 6 practice tests that you can take to prepare yourself and detailed explanations of practice questions so you can really understand which questions you got wrong. If you're going to take it soon then i suggest you buy this book to help you study.A decent supplement to College Board SAT practice tests As a long-time SAT and ACT tutor, I'm always excited to find promising new resources for my students. Kallis's "SAT Pattern Strategy", with cover color scheme evoking the classic Kaplan and a big gold sticker on the front claiming it as "Kallis' No. 1 SAT Study Guide" looks like it's been around forever, but is actually a new contender in the SAT prep guide fray of battling books. If you've never heard of Kallis, that's probably because the company got its start in the Asian market with a Chinese language edition in 2016.The short review: The new text is not perfect by any means, but it has one sterling virtue: It does provide 6 full facsimile SAT exams with answer explanations. This alone makes it a worthwhile purchase. The quality of the questions and their fidelity to College Board SAT style and content is variable, but overall comparable to those created by The Princeton Review or Kaplan.The nitty gritty:I only use this textbook with my students as a supplement for those who have completed all 6 of the College Board official practice tests (or are saving some of those for use closer to their exam dates). The book suffers from a number of flaws and inconsistencies. First, the layout and graphic style is extremely distracting, with meaningless dotted lines, shaded text blocks in outlined, shadowed boxes, excessive symbols for tips of different types, useless "ticket"-motif pseudo-tabs on all pages, and more making it hard to read.More troublesome, in mock test content, there is sometimes a marked divergence from the actual SAT. In English, some grammar questions are too subtle – or simply lack true distinction between the designated correct answer and the second-best answer. In the SAT, this should not happen and the College Board vets their questions extremely carefully to avoid it.The Reading section does offer very challenging passages, but relies unduly on archaic sources and also presents some poor questions.Essay questions, too, tend to be non-representative of those on the SAT (using the publisher's hired writers for sometimes wildly informal and unscholarly works rather than noted published speeches and articles) and the book offers no sample scored essays to learn from.Math is good, though perhaps a little easy overall.In sum, the Kallis book, though flawed, is a useful supplement to other SAT resources. I have my students work with the College Board book of 4 tests and additional 2 online to print out, official PSAT samples (since they are very close to the SAT in content and difficulty, created by the same test maker), and PWN the SAT for the best Math foundation for this test.
